Update to macOS Catalina 10.15.5 - Lenovo Legion Y540 Hackintosh

Ok, so I just got the notification, and from the details, I thought maybe I would have issues with sleep or power management in general. Turns out, everything is still working, including sleep!

  1. Download and install as normal from the Software Update pane.
  2. Let it restart and boot on its own from Clover.
  3. The whole thing took max 15-20 minutes to update (it was a 3GB update).
  4. Upon startup after the update is installed, touchpad, USB WiFi, audio were not working. That's a temporary after-effect, and a fresh boot will fix that issue.
  5. Also upon startup you will be asked for your iCloud account password (I skipped that part, because my USB WiFi wasn't working).
  6. VERY IMPORTANT: On the same setup, you will be asked for Disk Encryption (File Vault), and the option is enabled by default. DO NOT PROCEED with that. Uncheck that option before finishing with the setup window.
I confirm that on my Lenovo Legion Y540 Hackintosh everything is working:
  • Sleep / Power Management
  • Intel graphics
  • Audio
  • Bluetooth
  • Touchpad
  • Numeric Keypad (this one is actually more responsive now and starts up immediately, brilliant!)
  • USB WiFi (I have yet to replace my Intel card, because I'm waiting for the courage to test a kext for it).
  • Ethernet, USB, keyboard function keys, keyboard backlight etc etc.

Bullet Journal and Task Management in Obsidian (part 1)- Free Vault for download and Folder Structure

This is the vault in Obsidian that I use daily as a bullet journal and task manager. This is going to be a series of posts on explaining how I use this vault.   Download the full vault .zip file here . Extract it, save the folder to your desired location and then open it from Obsidian. If you just want the snippets, download the snippets .zip file here . Extract and paste the CSS snippets to your .obsidian/snippets folder (show hidden files and folders in your file explorer). For a list of the alternate checkboxes you can use, see here (you don't need the minimal theme, the CSS snippet I have enabled will work on any theme, even the default one):  https://minimal.guide/Block+types/Checklists Folder Structure I have 3 parent folders: inbox - this is where I have Obsidian automatically store any new note I create journal - this is where I have Obsidian automatically store daily notes. I keep the current month in there, then when the month ends, I review and archive by month ...
